I believe...he is struggling with the fact that his Maker, Godric, has formed...significant attachments to others in his absence. One of which is with me. He said some things with the intent of provoking me and blocked the exit when I tried to leave. I said some harsh things in anger, after which he tried to attack me.

In the end, I think he realized he had picked a fight he could not win so...he stopped, and I walked away.
Enough that I'm more worried about the danger he's in than the
danger he poses. I was one of the people he killed, and I may not
want revenge, but I can't say the same for everyone. I've been on this
ship too long not to worry about retaliation.

It was his choice. I asked if he'd also let me make a request that would keep him safe while he was less able to protect himself, and he refused.
I won't force that on him. The best I can do is make sure he knows my offer will stand.
