She slithers to the door and greets him with a smile, beckoning him in.
"Hello, Lark."
The water level in the cabin is at half tide at the moment, a steep slope
of dark gray sand leading down to the water, half of the stone archway into
the grotto where Ulla sleeps visible above the surface. Her mobility
devices and a waterproof trunk rest on either side of the doorway. And
when she closes the door behind him, contrary to the pretty but impersonal
geometric mosaic on the outside of it, the inside features a wolf in the
center with butterflies fluttering above it and a pool of water with two
swimming chimera fish below.
And then there's the newest addition. A curved ramp leading up to a dry
balcony for Ulla's harp and a conversation or reading nook, with two big
comfy armchairs and a lamp.
"Taylor, mostly." Ulla likes her girlfriend to be comfortable. And then
there were her other reasons. "And I wanted somewhere to keep my things
dry, especially the harp. And I want James to be comfortable when
he comes to talk. We'd been sitting on pillows on the floor in the
grotto. Which was fine. But I like not having to lower the water all the
way when I have a tail and gills, if I want somewhere dry for guests."

The harp is every bit as beautiful as promised.
And she grins at the question.
